It isn't possible to know the World rightly or to "get hold of it." A child tries to touch the head of his shadow but cannot do so, because as he moves, the shadow-head also moves.

Mother then puts his hand on his own head, & shows that the shadow-head is touched. So too, the World is "got hold of" or known rightly, only by "getting hold of" the Self when the Guru "puts your hand on it."

The World is a mere shadow of the Real.

Ramana's Cinema analogy:

In the light of Consciousness, flickering images of a World are projected onto the unchanging screen of the Self. Like the viewing audience, we laugh & cry as if the images & depicted suffering were actual. Awake to the situation, the wise suffer not & seek no satisfaction in the images even if they should appear.
